Skin boosters explained: Profhilo vs Rejuran vs hyaluronic boosters

How Profhilo, Rejuran and HA skin boosters such as Restylane Vital, NCTF 135HA and Jalupro differ, and what clinics should know before stocking them.

"Skin booster" has become one of the busiest terms in Indian aesthetics. Patients ask for it by name, clinics add it to their menus, and suppliers attach it to an ever-widening range of products. But the products sold under that umbrella are not all the same thing. This guide breaks the category into its main groups, explains how they differ in composition and positioning, and covers what a clinic should consider before stocking them.

As always, decisions about suitability, technique and treatment protocols belong with a qualified doctor. This is a buying guide, not clinical guidance.

What do people mean by "skin booster"?

Broadly, a skin booster is an injectable aimed at the quality of the skin (hydration, texture, the look of fine lines) rather than at adding visible volume or reshaping contours the way a dermal filler does. Within that broad idea there are three groups clinics in India encounter most often:

  1. Hybrid or stabilised HA products, of which Profhilo is the best-known example
  2. Polynucleotide (PN) products, led by Rejuran
  3. Light HA boosters and HA-plus-complex formulas, such as Restylane Skinboosters Vital, NCTF 135HA and Jalupro Super Hydro

Profhilo

Profhilo is developed and manufactured by IBSA, an Italian-origin pharmaceutical group. It combines high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid using IBSA's patented thermal process (NAHYCO technology), which produces a gel that is designed to spread through tissue rather than sit in one place like a volumising filler.

On Esthelix it is listed as Profhilo H+L, supplied as a 2 ml prefilled syringe.

Positioning: premium. Profhilo has very strong name recognition among patients in metro cities, and many clinics treat it as a flagship product.

Rejuran

Rejuran is made by PharmaResearch, a South Korean company. Instead of hyaluronic acid, its core ingredient is polynucleotide (PN) derived from salmon DNA, produced with the company's DNA Optimising Technology. This is why you will often hear patients call it a "salmon DNA" treatment.

On Esthelix it is listed as Rejuran Healer.

Positioning: premium. Rejuran's popularity in Korea, and later across Asia and Europe, has made it one of the most requested boosters in Indian metros.

Hyaluronic and complex boosters

The third group is broader. These products use lightly cross-linked or non-cross-linked HA, often combined with vitamins, amino acids, peptides or other ingredients.

  • Restylane Skinboosters Vital (Galderma): a light HA product from the Restylane family, aimed at skin quality rather than volume
  • NCTF 135HA (Fillmed, France): a non-cross-linked HA combined with a long list of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other components; it is a mainstay of mesotherapy-style practices
  • Jalupro Super Hydro: an Italian product combining HA with amino acids and peptides, supplied as a 2.5 ml prefilled syringe
  • Hyaron: a prefilled sodium hyaluronate product
  • Jarriot Baby Face and QR678 Neo, which clinics also stock alongside boosters for skin-renewal menus

Positioning: ranges from mid-range to premium depending on brand.

Choosing what to stock

Start from your patient conversations

If your patients already ask for Profhilo or Rejuran by name, those products are likely to move quickly. If your clinic leans towards mesotherapy-style programmes, products such as NCTF 135HA may fit better.

Think in packages

Skin boosters are usually sold to patients as a course rather than a single visit. When you calculate stock, think about how many patients you expect to start a course in a given month, and how many units each course will typically use according to your doctors' protocols.

Watch shelf life

Boosters are premium consumables. Check the expiry date before you buy deeper quantities, and make sure the date comfortably exceeds your expected usage window.

Do not mix up boosters and fillers

Some booster products sit inside filler families (Restylane Vital is an example). Make sure your team labels and stores them clearly so the correct product is picked for each appointment.

Handling stock when it arrives

A little discipline at the receiving desk protects both your money and your patients:

  • Check the pack the day it arrives. Confirm the seal, the product name and the batch details against what was agreed on WhatsApp.
  • Follow the storage instructions printed on each pack. Different boosters can have different requirements, so do not assume one rule fits the whole shelf.
  • Record batch and expiry in your stock register before the product goes on the shelf.
  • Rotate stock so the earliest expiry is used first.

Spotting counterfeit boosters

Because Profhilo and Rejuran are high-value, high-demand products, they are frequent targets for counterfeiters. Be cautious of:

  • Prices that are dramatically below the rest of the market
  • Missing or resealed shrink-wrap
  • Leaflets in unexpected languages, poor print quality or misspellings
  • Batch numbers that do not match between the outer box and the syringe

Esthelix supplies sealed original packs with batch and expiry visible, and we share batch photos on request before you pay.
